Ever since its foundation in 1949 travelite has been the German specialist in light, functional and durable luggage. Ownerfamily managed ever since, the company is today operated by the third generation of the founding family. travelite products are known and respected for their high quality and high degrees of innovative functionality. travelite products are designed and developed in Germany, with the typical German focus on highest process and product quality at the very core of this development process.
travelite products are always manufactured using the latest in material, accessory and manufacturing technology. All steps of the manufacturing process are continuously monitored to safeguard highest standards of raw-material and workmanship quality. travelite also places great emphasis on the maintenance of high social and ethical workplace standards.
travelite – History
In 1949 Hamburg entrepreneurs Anna and Gerhard Winkler founded „Gerhard Winkler + Co – Bag Manufactory“ which later evolved into today’s widely known “travelite” brand. Based on the development of innovative products, travelite grew quickly. In the late 1960’s Gisela Nannen (daughter of the founders) and husband Christian Nannen joined the company. Corporate strategy was adjusted to cater for the growing and changing markets and more diversified demands. Production was distributed over Europe, then South America and finally shifted to Asia. In 1999 Jan-Oliver Nannen, already the third family generation, joined the company. In 2006 Mr. Alfred Gruber, travelite’s Sales Director, joined as partner. Up to this day, travelite’s corporate history represents a coherent path of personal ownership and involvement, innovative flexibility and an unrivalled focus on customer needs.
